As Ulan Melisbek informed the press service of the State Intellectual Property Service shortly after appearance of information of his being in the territory of the U.S. Embassy.

“After appearing of this message on websites of the Kyrgyz Republic’s news agencies, I started receiving phone calls with questions about whether I intend to ask for political asylum - said the Director of Kyrgyzpatent. - In this connection I would like to make a statement that I do not intend to leave the country and will stay at my place until it will be considered reasonable.”

When he was asked about why he did not apply to police then the aggressive people invaded his home, Ulan Melisbek said he did not want to strain an already difficult situation. “When people invaded into my house started to call their abettors from the street, I just took my son and rushed to the car, waving a gas pistol to frighten the attackers - told Director of Kyrgyzpatent. - A four-year child should not be a witness of mopping up his father.

Ulan Melisbek reported that he sought asylum in the U.S. Embassy only for the next two days, to ensure safety for his son, and on Monday will be at the workplace. All scheduled events will be held in accordance with the approved schedule.

“Previously I have already been in the status of political refugee and I won’t enter the same river twice. I am still very sorry that I was not in the country in 2005. And I do not intend to leave Kyrgyzstan now in a very difficult time for the country.

I never made a secret and I do not hide it now that I was close enough to the family of Bakiyev. But such is the peculiarity of our reality, as in, perhaps, any other Central Asian states that without the patronage, no director has real chance to implement his policy, especially if it requires reforms and radical changes in personnel policies. For me it is not important who is in power, it is important what benefits I can bring to my country. And along with all citizens of Kyrgyzstan, I am really concerned with the events in the country. I can only guess what the pressures members of the Provisional Government face from the candidates for positions and portfolios. Alas, no revolution can liberate our country from tribalism, nepotism and neglect laws. I can only wish the members of the Provisional Government will, to act cohesively and consistency. In their hands the last chance in our country to get back on a democratic and civilized way of development ”.
